That has been the overriding feature of this offseason so far in Boston: Stevens is de-Ainge-ing this team, putting his mark on the roster and removing. With that in mind, let’s take a look at the five roster moves the Boston Celtics need to make. It’s another spot Stevens needs to change. A banged up and shallow Celtics team started. The problem is that the contract extension for Jayson Tatum kicks in next season, and while he is worth every dollar owed to him, some of the other players who are on big money are certainly expendable. He also has some of the deals he reportedly almost pulled off which would have changed the NBA landscape. As part of a 3-team trade, the Boston Celtics traded Tristan Thompson to the Sacramento Kings the Atlanta Hawks traded Kris Dunn, Bruno Fernando and a 2023 2nd round draft pick ( Julian Phillips was later selected) to the Boston Celtics and the Sacramento Kings traded Delon Wright to the Atlanta Hawks. Danny Ainge stepped aside as the president of basketball operations which is huge for the franchise considering some of the deals he has done. Then the Celtics‘ world turned upside down from a front-office standpoint. They did their best but unfortunately, the Nets proved too good, winning the series 4-1. They lost Jaylen Brown to injury which was always going to make their first-round playoff matchup with the Brooklyn Nets very difficult. The Celtics have a 26-9 record (winning 74.3 of their games) when they have played as a moneyline favorite of -297 or shorter. The Boston Celtics host the Milwaukee Bucks in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference semi-finals between the Celtics and Bucks on at TD Garden in Boston.
